Live Chat Transcript
[SHARON F]: HAS THIS PROGRAM STARTED?
[TRISHA]: Hi - yes! we are ready to go!
[TRISHA]: A few people contacted us about pattern errors.
[TRISHA]: We get patterns from designers in many forms - some are clear and correct, many are just notes to be deciphered. We swatch all our stitches, and our patterns are all rewritten into our style - that way we use all the same words to explain all the same things.
[TRISHA]: When that is done, our patterns are checked by 3 tech editors. You would think that would do it - right!!
[PATRICIA]: I want to subscribe to your amazing magazine, I live in Santiago Chile, South America, how can I do it?
[bdiane]: Are you speaking about Fall 2008?
[TRISHA]: Unfortunately human error comes into play.
[Cynthia]: Hello. I was curious as to when the holiday issue will be released.
[TRISHA]: we do all that we can to make sure the patterns are correct.
[Christine]: Hi, I emailed a question about obtaining a pattern from an old issue, from the cover in the late 80's. Is this possible?
[Dr. Jeri]: Good day Trisha, I am a machine knitter (4 machines) and would really love to see some machine knitting patterns and products for us. There is a resurgence of us in the USA and we are hungry for some innovative patterns!
[TRISHA]: The holiday issue will be on sale Oct 14.
[Cynthia]: Excellent. I am sooooo looking forward to it. Any hints on what we can expect to see?
[TRISHA]: If you want to subscribe from overseas, you can do it though a company in the UK called GMC - if you go to their site you will find the info
[bdiane]: when is the holiday issue sent out?
[TRISHA]: Yes - you can get old patterns. Email us at the webmaster address on this site and someone will tell you what do to
[TRISHA]: Great to hear you have so many machines.... however, we will have to leave it to you to make the patterns work - we have too many hand knitters so need to cover that market first and foremost.
[bdiane]: I wish the Vogue website was more substantial; is there a reason it has not been developed in the areas of your books out for preview and the next issue out for preview?
[TRISHA]: I know we have a lot of patterns that can be easily converted to machine!
[Christine]: Thanks Trisha, but I have emailed this request for the old pattern after the last live chat with you and there was no response.
[TRISHA]: Holiday issue will go out prior to Oct 14 on sale date
[TRISHA]: We are constantly working on updating our site! We will be previewing the Holiday issue next week - I am sure you will be emailed so you know.
[TRISHA]: The video portion will be up when the issue goes on sale.
[Christine]: The old pattern is the Vittaqdini raglan sweater on the cover in the late 80's, two color with skyscraper.
[Suzanne ]: Trisha, would you consider enlarging your patterns to accommodate a large bust size, like 48-50? Us baby boomers are g4tting larger. thanks
[sishogan]: What types of projects can we expect to see? Will there be quick or one-skein type projects for us busy folks?
[TRISHA]: OK - send me the email to trisha@vogueknitting.com. Sometimes when we are closing an issue all hands are on deck and we hold off with requests until the issue goes to the printer!
[bdiane]: That is great; many of the other knitting magazines have even a mouse turn page on their issues and books so you can see the innards so to speak; glad to hear you are catching up
[TRISHA]: We are always trying to add more sizes - and you will see more of them in the next issue - not every style lends itself to larger sizing, but we go through a lengthy process to decided which ones will work.
[TRISHA]: RE types of projects in the next issue - we have a holiday gifts story with 11 projects that are quick to knit!
[bdiane]: not scarves right?
[TRISHA]: The cover image that you have seen has these amazing bracelets - then there are some wraps and scarves, and lovely bags.
[bdiane]: great
[Cynthia]: Never mind! Thanks for beating me to the punch!
[Christine]: The cover projects look so interesting and fun!
[TRISHA]: There are 2 scarves - one is a simple evening oversized scarf in Tilli Thomas beaded yarn - so sumptuous. The other is a cabled cashmere.
[Cynthia]: Are there any coats? I just love knitting coats and always get compliments on the coats I've knit based on your patterns.
[TRISHA]: The bracelets are really FUN!!!!
[Suzanne ]: Trisha, would consider doing an over -50 focus in an issue? I love the mag but some of the styles are just too young and/or fitted for most of us retired knitters. Thanks
[bdiane]: Did the gals complaining about errors and errata know you post your errata on your webpage?
[Doris]: Hi Trisha, I am having a problem with a Chunky all wool yarn, Twinkle that was in the Fall 2008 issue. However I love it but it sheds all over my clothes. Any suggestions? Thanks, Doris
[TRISHA]: There is one really great coats - one designed by Laura Bryant from Prism Yarns - and there are some longer cardigans too
[Christine]: I second Suzanne's suggestion, us over 50 gals are growing in number.
[bdiane]: long is in again
[TRISHA]: That's a good idea to focus on over 50 - we will add that to our list!
[bdiane]: if you are 50 you have to be darn careful about the retro looks; it might have been from your closet when you were young then !!!!!
[sishogan]: It woukd be fun to do a bunch of the bracelets and make them into a necklace like the Dries van Noten ones that are all over the magazines.
[Cynthia]: Thanks so much! Looking forward to checking the coats out! As for over 50 pieces (not there yet, but getting ready), I loved the gray lay-out you had in one of last year's issues with a beautiful gray-haired/white-haired model and a wide variety of gray-based sweaters. Something like that would be wonderful if other items could also be incluced.
[bdiane]: Where are you all seeing the cover of the Holiday issue?
[TRISHA]: Re the yarn shedding - the Twinkle yarn you are talking about is a loosely spun roving yarn, and would prob shed whether it was thin or thick. If you think the shedding is excessive, then email Classic Elite and let them know. They may have had other people ask the same question.
[daquiet]: that's good to hear...
[irishtea3]: Please keep the 'over 50' styles current, though
[bdiane]: agree
[bdiane]: sophisticated
[bdiane]: Chanel
[Christine]: also agree, CURRENT
[tricia]: Classic
[irishtea3]: A nice Chanel type jacket could be wonderful
[TRISHA]: Agree with you all - older women want classics - that will last and will make them look elegant and sophisticated.
[summersong]: i'm over 50 and under 120lbs...love the fitted stuff, sophisticated and fun both!
[Rita T.]: Does it look like finer yarns (as in thinner) are starting to show up again for garments
[Suzanne ]: Yes, me too! Sophisticated and classic. Love Chanel.
[TRISHA]: The Dries Van Noten necklace is stunning!!! That's a very cool idea.
[suelee]: Will you be showing alternate views of your patterns on the website?
[bdiane]: at lunch yesterday we were chatting and I forget I am 50 as looking through my eyes I still feel young. It is only when I go by a mirror that I wonder who that lady is..............
[daquiet]: lol Diane, same thing w/ me.
[jcornfoot@aol.com]: The vogue vintage book from the 30's to ? is a great boook
[TRISHA]: Yes - thinner yarns are definitely making a comeback!! They look fresh and new and are great for lace and for socks - which are big hits right now
[knitting jen]: some of us younger knitters really appreciate the chunky knits: not just because they are quick but because the texture of the stitches is so appealing. keep including chunky knits!
[Mary]: 50 is the new 30!
[irishtea3]: was just thinking the same thing, Mary!!
[bdiane]: I make wraps almost entirely now
[Mary]: Are there any sock patterns in the Holiday issue?
[TRISHA]: Chunky is here to stay!!! We are working on some wonderful chunky pieces for our winter issue - this amazing long blue scarf, a beautiful Twinkle short coat, a cropped pulloever etc etc and a great vest top from Tom Scott. They all look great!!!!!!!!
[TRISHA]: No socks in Holiday..... but we are working on some going forward....
[bdiane]: please remember those of us in half the states can not wear chunky clothes as the climate is too warm; thanx
[daquiet]: capes are back in, will there be any cape patterns in the holiday mag?
[knitting jen]: oh, I seriously cannot wait!! I am sure they are fabulous, they always are! I know more from VK than any other source.
[Suzanne ]: I am a big fan of Kaffe Fassett. Any of his patterns next season?
[TRISHA]: We have the most beautiful lace wrap in Holiday too - it's just adorable!!! It's in Jade Sapphire 2ply cashmere and the stitch work is amazing!!!!!
[tricia]: Socks are great to work on because of their portability, especially if you commute on public transit. How about some projects that are commuter friendly?
[bdiane]: I really enjoyed seeing the mittens in the fall issue but it is too warm here and do not own one pair of mittens now
[sishogan]: I like the chunky looks too, interesting about the Twinkle yarn, have not used it yet.
[Cynthia]: But, we can all wear socks! Too bad there are none in this issue. Are there any Christmas stockings or guantlets?
[Christine]: I love Kaffe Fassett
[daquiet]: i like that idea of comuter friendly projects
[TRISHA]: There is a Brandon Mably jacket that is a great classic shape that fits with what we have been talking about - then in the winter issue there is an amazing Kaffe Wrap!!!!!
[Doris]: How can I get in touch with a designer.I wrote to Lily Chin about a dress in the Fall 2008 issue. I bought all the yarn but it just didn't work out according to the pattern. Any suggestions?
[Cynthia]: Any of those mittens planned where the top of the mitten folds back? My dad is handicapped and reads your magazine when I visit and he has been looking for a pair of those.
[bdiane]: lovely; love to knit lace but not going to the prom so there is a fine line and Vogue does that best
[TRISHA]: Is the Lily dress for VK? or from Lily?
[clairedene]: Why do you hardly ever include patterns for children or toddlers? Would like to see some cute patterns for little ones-especially girls. Thanks.
[TRISHA]: We have some fold back mittens in the Fall issue - but if you want them in Mens size we have some in our Knitting On The Go: Mittens books.
[Doris]: If any one has used the Twinkle yarn, let me know of your experience with it. Doris
[bdiane]: I simply can not find the holiday issue cover; help?
[TRISHA]: We don't often do kids for many reasons. But - if you want kids we ALWAYS have childrens and baby patterns in Knit Simple magazine.
[knitting jen]: trisha, do you happen to know if Knit.1 will have a fall issue?
[knitoriousGRL]: oh yeah i love that knit 1
[Cynthia]: Eek! We both missed that. I can increase to accommodate him. Thanks so much and sorry I missed that.
[TRISHA]: It's the yellow cover that was on the page you clicked on to get here.
[bdiane]: Is the Debbie Bliss mag yours?
[Rita T.]: I'm happy to hear there's a lace wrap in the holiday issue. I love using laceweight yarns as well as knitting lace.
[knitting jen]: Doris, Twinkle yarn is really lovely--lofty, and soft and the colors are incredible. it pills a little bit, but right now it is my favorire yarn to work with
[knitoriousGRL]: I think knit.1 has been scaled back to 2 issues a year
[TRISHA]: Knit.1 will be a combined Fall and Winter issue this year. It will be on sale early Dec. Looks like a really fun issue too - there's a great group of knit from the top down sweaters that I am really excited about!
[bdiane]: thanx. found it.
[knitting jen]: if that's true, that is a shame, i really like knit.1
[TRISHA]: We published the Debbie Bliss mag for Debbie and her yarn company.
[knitoriousGRL]: me too!
[clairedene]: Is it better to knit with pure cashmere or with a cashmere blend--that is, blended with wool or another fiber?
[Christine]: I get Vogue Knitting for the sophistication and wouldn't want any valuable space taken by childrens fashions. Sorry, just my opinion.
[Mary]: I love top down sweaters!
[Cynthia]: Loved the Debbie Bliss magazine by the by!
[TRISHA]: That is exactly why we don't put too many in! Our readers have told us over the years they don't want very many of them!
[bdiane]: no kids fashions for me either
[Doris]: The dress was in the Fall 2008 issue from the Lily Chin Signature collection.
[TRISHA]: Great!!!! We all did too!!! And Debbie is a dream to work with.
[knitting jen]: christine, I am TOTALLY with you. I'd be so disappointed to open my VK and find a bunch of children's patterns
[sishogan]: Love top-down sweaters too! Check out Wendy Bernard's new book if you want to create your own styles, lots of helpful tips there.
[irishtea3]: I agree with Christine; I want higher fashion, too
[TRISHA]: If you don't have the Debbie Bliss mag then go out and GET it now!!!!
[Doris]: Re the Twinkle yarn, I love it too. Did in shed for you?
[daquiet]: that's a ittle harsh Christine...I think it would be great to add a few pages of children projects...especially early teens, they like high fashion to
[Rita T.]: I liked the Debbie Bliss magazine as was pleased to see it was a VK publication
[knitoriousGRL]: I turn to vogue for fashion wear- and i can always trust VK will deliver
[TRISHA]: It's about to sell out and will not be available....
[Cynthia]: I agree. Love children. Knit loads and loads for the children in my life (they actually design most of what I knit for them, which is a crazy challenge), but I would prefer not to see children's pieces in Vogue Knitting.
[knitting jen]: Doris, only a little bit. not enough not to knit with it.
[Roni J]: I agree about the kids patterns but I find it so hard to find sophisticated patterns for men.
[smiske]: Was the Debbie Bliss magazine a one time issue or will there be more?
[knitting jen]: how did I not know about the debbie bliss magazine? where can I buy it?
[TRISHA]: What page is the Lily Chin dress?
[sishogan]: Nooo! Need to run to the bookstore after work now!
[bdiane]: I have only had one designer for men that the guys liked the stuff
[TRISHA]: Borders and B&N or your local yarn store that carries her yarn - if they have any left.
[pazzagatto]: I would like to see more high fashion in pluss sizes though - there are alot of us out there
[tricia]: I don't buy VK to look at children's fashions, I'd like to see Mens sock patterns.
[bdiane]: is the Debbie bliss mag in B&N and the like? Only my lys had it here
[Roni J]: Who would that be and where did you find them?
[TRISHA]: We also continually cover plus sizes in Knit Simple so look there too!
[Doris]: You did put out an entire magazine on childrens patterns about 2 years ago. I like to see all designers patterns. There are enough kids patterns on the market.
[bdiane]: tara manning for the men's knits
[Rita T.]: In Canada I found the Debblie Bliss magazine and Chapter's/Indigo books
[TRISHA]: OK - thanks
[pazzagatto]: and are you planning another all men's issue? I have the one from . . .'02?
[TRISHA]: Yes - Chapters has it too. And Michaels, JoAnns and AC Moore are selling the magazine (but not the yarn!!!)
[bdiane]: how about hancock fabrics?
[TRISHA]: No - the men's issue did not sell very well so our boss will not let us do another one!!!!
[pazzagatto]: oh, bummer
[TRISHA]: They might not - they don't carry many magazines.
[knitting jen]: Will there be more Michael Kors in either the Holiday or Winter issues?
[tricia]: Too bad about the men's issue!!!
[bdiane]: you though bn had them?
[Cynthia]: Love Kors designs!!!
[bdiane]: maybe they lied to me on the phone and I will go look
[TRISHA]: Yes - look for a mohair cabled confection in the winter issue!!!!!
[Roni J]: How about more men in regular issues?
[knitting jen]: seriously, now I don't know if I can wait for the winter issue!!!
[bdiane]: mohaiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiir! My studio is filled with a lot of this!
[TRISHA]: We will do if we get some good designs sent it - but they are very rare....
[Doris]: Also, does anyone know where I can get a rhinestone buckle. I make a sweater a while ago but could not find a rhinestone buckle. Thanks
[TRISHA]: Next issue we have Nanette Lapore....
[knitting jen]: ooh! nanette lapore!
[bdiane]: love here
[sishogan]: Understand about the men's issue - my SO won't wear sweaters or scarves, handknit or otherwise!
[TRISHA]: I would go to M&J Trimmings website to find a buckle!
[bdiane]: he will or might wear mannings
[bdiane]: they fit
[Robin]: To change the subject completely: I so love it when you use that gorgeous model with the long gray hair and dark eyebrows--I'm a 56-year-old size 6 and feel discouraged when the models look young enough to be corrupting my teenage sons...
[tricia]: Designers don't focus on Men? Why? I see beautiful Itailan knit sweaters in boutiques for Men......
[sishogan]: Ohh! Nanette Lepore! LOVE her!
[bdiane]: good one robin
[Christine]: Yea for Nanette Lapore
[TRISHA]: Yes - many men do not want knits.... too bad really. Not very enlightened of them!!!!!
[TRISHA]: We will use older models again - we will have to wait and see who is available when it is time to shoot....
[Cynthia]: That's the model I was referring to in the gray issue last year! She's great!
[bdiane]: i have tried and tried; they do not like it too big or too tight; on and on
[tricia]: She was gorgeous.
[pazzagatto]: My DH wants me to knit a new sweater for him - his last came from that issue, and he asked when the next one to pick from was coming
[knitting jen]: i totally remember her from the gray issue. those designs were beautiful, as was the model
[ldfull]: What is your core target market for Vogue?
[bdiane]: you are fortunate there pasz
[Doris]: The Lily Chin dress is on page 156 in the Fall 2007 issue.
[TRISHA]: Our core market is women from 30-onwards who are fashion savvy and love knitting.
[birch]: A friend showed me how she finished sweaters; the way Chanel did in the thirties. For example, she place chain in the hem so it would hang properly. How about some great finish articles
[bdiane]: I want to beg you to please keep posting the yarn photo real size in the mag
[okate]: Is the chunky knit trend continuing?
[TRISHA]: Finish articles are on our list always.
[TRISHA]: We have yarn photo real size with each pattern. That will not go away!
[birch]: Are there past issues that show how to line a sweater?
[Suzanne ]: Where can I get Debbie Bliss's magazine?
[TRISHA]: Yes - chunky is def. in
[okate]: rats.
[TRISHA]: Debbie's magazine should be at your local yarn store, B&N or Borders
[bdiane]: My hubby saw the ad for the ball bell in this issue and said; why don't you go to Lowes and buy a ceiling light fixture glass shade ---it worked brilliantly
[knitoriousGRL]: any particular colors for winter 08/09? i know mustard yellows have been around, but i can't really pull off anything in the yellow orange family
[TRISHA]: That's a really good idea!!!!!
[bdiane]: $9 and that was for venetial glass and fancy
[okate]: I'm happy to see the cardigan getting its day and in longer lengths. Will we be seeing more knitted skirts as well?
[TRISHA]: Yes - yellow is here to stay. I have the colors for next fall/winter on my wall too and there is a lot of yellow. It's a tricky color....
[Cynthia]: You can buy the Debbie Bliss magazine online, too. Try here: http://www.yarnstudio.com/DebbieBlissMagazine.html
[TRISHA]: Others are in the purple family - that's the hottest for this season!
[knitting jen]: i love purple!
[Ellen]: Is vogue ever planning to focus on contemporary Men's pattern
[TRISHA]: Yes - we love knitted skirts here - so there will be more to come.
[birch]: Do you follow the panettene (sp) color list?
[bdiane]: is there any chance Vogue would ever have a live chat all the time for knitters?
[pazzagatto]: or even a weekly chat
[okate]: VK used to feature Vogue patterns as well. Any chance of that returning?
[pazzagatto]: on a schedule
[birch]: dark pure violet? Will that be available?
[bdiane]: I belong to ravelry but it does not suit the women connection need
[tricia]: Purple can be beautiful with gray.
[Suzanne ]: My friend said to me, "You can wear all those awful yellow colors." I think she meant it as a compliment!
[TRISHA]: We follow many color lists - from many sources.... Including Pantone
[bdiane]: the instant need
[Cynthia]: Purple and gray is a gorgeous combo!!
[birch]: Would you use a warm yellowish gray with the purple?
[Roni J]: What do"women connection need?
[TRISHA]: We could certainly consider a weekly chat - what would you want it to be about?
[tricia]: I think a cooler gray with the purple would work.
[okate]: About style and technique.
[Cynthia]: Yellow and purple--any primary and opposing secondary combo--always works!
[Theresa ]: How about a weekly chat for each design in the current VK - it is always nice to talk with people working o nthe same project.
[sishogan]: Depends on the purple - warm or cool
[Cynthia]: Emerging trends in colors, styles, stitches, products. Pattern tips. Anything would work.
[pazzagatto]: color, techniques, styles . . .
[TRISHA]: A good way to work with color is to go to your local paint store and get color swatches of colors taht will appeal to you. Then play with them and see what works well together. Also - we have a new book called COLOR SENSE that will help with combinations.
[ldfull]: a variety trends techniques and fashion a supplement of the mag
[okate]: That is a great idea to target the chat on a curent issue.
[TRISHA]: We tried knitalongs but our readers are not really intersted.
[Christine]: What's the chance of getting an auto-renewable subscription to Vogue Knitting. I'm already a subscriber, but I don't want to have to renew each time and maybe even miss an issue when I more senile than I am now.
[Doris]: For the person who wanted a coat. I made the Twinle coat from the Fall 2007 issue. It is stunning!!! but it does shede a bit.
[okate]: You have a lot of competition for knitalongs
[Cynthia]: How long ago were the knitalongs? Perhaps that would work now.
[TRISHA]: We do chats usually every two weeks and will be going forward. We are planning some cool designer chats as well with Nicky Epstein, Twinkle, Teva Durham etc.
[ldfull]: I think often people can not live up to knitalongs
[bdiane]: speaking of renewal; there is no way to do it once you get into your account
[knitting jen]: trisha, do you know yet when the winter issue will be released? i seriously want to mark my calendar. ;)
[birch]: Your patterns are so good. But yet, when I start to knit something I start changing everything. Is this just human nature?
[tricia]: Love Nicky Epstein, so creative and imaginative!
[Cynthia]: How about something with charity knitting, but with trendier fashions--sort of what had been done with Susan G. Komen and those gorgeous scarves in beautiful fibers. That sort of knitalong would be interesting.
[TRISHA]: The winter issue will be on sale Jan 26 (which is Australia day incidently!!!!)
[okate]: To be able to chat about an issue or area of an issue would be great. BTW the mittens and gloves in the current issue are fabulous and thank you for picking Jared Flood and Kristin N.
[bdiane]: any way to see inside nicky's new book?
[TRISHA]: We love the mittens!!!!
[sishogan]: My yarn for the green mittens will be here on Friday!!
[TRISHA]: Not really at this point.... We cannot do "see inside the book" at Amazon - it's due to politics in the publishing world....
[TRISHA]: Yes - who does not love mittens!!!!
[bdiane]: oh fooey; it isn't going to be on your website ?
[birch]: The magazine appears in the bookstores before my subscription arrives. Sometimes I'm tempted to purchase.
[pazzagatto]: OH! YEAH! Ditto on picking Jarrod - love his work!
[TRISHA]: Actually the onsale date for winter is Dec 16 - teh date I gave you is for the following year!!!!!!!!!
[Robin]: Yes--it happens here, too, in Williamsburg, VA: the new Vogue is at my LYS before it gets here. That shouldn't happen...
[okate]: That's interesting about the See Inside. I buy online based on those see insides and text excerpts.
[Christine]: I hate that, I see the magazine in the book store and think that my subscription has been lost in the mail.
[TRISHA]: The sub mailing is always a problem
[birch]: Wouldn't it be great if vk would be available in Kindle. It would be easier to carry around.
[Mary]: I just rec'd mine!
[bdiane]: Hey Robin; I am in your town!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
[TRISHA]: we deal with it constantly .... It bascally comes down to your local post office and when they decide to deliver it....
[Mary]: I second that!
[Robin]: Mary, do you mean the holiday issue?
[bdiane]: Or you are in MY town?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
[Mary]: no the fall issue
[TRISHA]: Holiday issue is not printed yet.....
[okate]: I wanted to second the person who said that it was great to read designer profiles. I also like hearing about yarn company owners as in the Anniversary issue.
[knitting jen]: I have to say, I love the fact that VK does three issues dedicated to cold-weather knits. I have never been a big fan of spring/summer knits.
[birch]: Wouldn't it be great to be able to knit the entire issue each time?
[Robin]: Diane--we must know each other.
[TRISHA]: Thanks - we can work on that. In the Hol issue we have a profile on Cathy Carron and one on Nicky Epstein celebrating 25 years as a designer.
[bdiane]: knitting sisters?
[Cynthia]: It would be great if there were at least two more issues annually!!
[okate]: Cathy AND Nicky E? Yay!
[birch]: so many patterns so little time
[juliecache]: i would really like to see patterns for smaller pieces that require less yarn/money
[TRISHA]: OMG!!!! I don't know how we would get it all done!!!!!!!!!!!
[bdiane]: we won't; no matter
[TRISHA]: There are more smaller patterns in the Holiday issue.
[Cynthia]: It would be fabulous though, to have six issues a year!!
[bdiane]: it is just perfect the way it is trisha
[Christine]: I don't either, but you are good at it!
[knitting jen]: I know--some british knitting magazines come out every other month but their content is usually not that interesting. better to "save yourself" for VK, i think
[TRISHA]: Thanks!!!!
[Theresa]: Yes, yes, more issues!
[Doris]: i have almost all the issues of Vogue knitting since 1975. Just love the magazine. At one time there were certain retailers who would send you all the yarn for a particular design in the magazinel. I just loved it. Would VK ever do that again.
[ldfull]: Fiber has become a topic of interest for me. Especially whats new in the fiber world.
[TRISHA]: Yes - the Brit's have to do 6-12 issues a year to get newsstand placement. They have so little in each issue though.
[juliecache]: new fibers are interesting to me, too.
[Cynthia]: Four issues is perfect. I would just love more perfection! And, yes, Trish, you are doing an absolutely fabulous job!
[bdiane]: Doris; I forgot entirely about that; great and easy and the kits were no more than if you could find the yarn
[TRISHA]: We cannot send you yarn but you can order from teh stores listed in the ads in the back of the magazine.
[bdiane]: that is part of the problem with the internet ; everything all day 24 7
[TRISHA]: There are still some stores that kit....
[TRISHA]: Not something we can get involved in.
[okate]: Trisha, do you have a wishlist of styles you'd like to see?
[Rita T.]: VK is the only magazine I don't look through at the check out. My favourites are always fall and winter issues
[sishogan]: So you are the one outbidding me!
[tricia]: I'd like to know more about independent dyers, does Vogue ever use their product for their designs?
[TRISHA]: I do have a wishlist.... It's really really long though!!!!!
[tricia]: I can imagine!
[knitting jen]: trisha, do you ever have time to knit for yourself?
[okate]: Give us two items off the list.
[knitting jen]: if so, what do you like to knit?
[TRISHA]: We do use some independent dyers - but we try to use yarns that are nationally available... The new issue of Knit.1 has a great article about the indie dyers that you might enjoy!
[Doris]: Trisha, that Lily Chin pattern is on page 156 in the Fall 2007 issue. Where can I find help on this pattern?
[knitting jen]: Doris, whenever I need help on a pattern, i take it to my LYS. did you try that?
[Cynthia]: When does Knit 1 come out? Did you say December 16?
[TRISHA]: I don't have a lot of time to knit. I recently knit a cap in Kaffe's new yarn that was in KnitSimple - because I was so into the yarn I really wanted to try it out. I loved it!!!!
[knitting jen]: that yarn looks scrumptious
[TRISHA]: Yes - it will be out Dec. 16.
[Doris]: Knitting Jen: what is LYS. Thanks
[knitting jen]: local yarn store. sorry!
[Cynthia]: Thanks!
[pazzagatto]: local yarn store
[Cynthia]: LYS: Local Yarn Shop.
[birch]: I always check for corrections to patterns at your web site.
[Doris]: Thanks, I sent for the yarn. .
[Cynthia]: C'mon Trish. Two items from your wish list!!
[pazzagatto]: this has been interesting - when is the next chat scheduled for? no pressure!
[TRISHA]: I find i like to knit scarves (though I have too many!!) and smaller projects. Socks are not my thing (though I have knit lots of them) as I find the second one boring!!! I always want a new challenge!
[birch]: but handknit socks feel so good
[TRISHA]: My wish list would be for a cashmere chanel-style but slightly A-line jacket
[knitting jen]: Doris, my LYS will help me even if I bought the yarn elsewhere. does not hurt to ask!
[TRISHA]: They do!!!!
[sishogan]: Yes, the dreaded Second Sock Syndrome!
[Cynthia]: Nice thing to wish for, Trish
[TRISHA]: My other wishlist item is a big coat that I can wear in the fall.
[tricia]: Yep, I agree about the sock syndrome!
[birch]: And a perfect skirt and pants for your jacket
[Doris]: Thanks knitting Jen. You really helped me a lot.
[TRISHA]: Yes they would be great additions!!!!
[knitting jen]: Thanks for the chat!
[bdiane]: thanx and waving
[birch]: thank you
[Robin]: Thanks so much--it's really great to talk to the editor of VK.
[Cynthia]: Well, I am with you on the coat. As a matter-of-fact, I wore my sweater-coats thru the entire winter here in NewYork and they were great!
[tricia]: This has been great!!!
[pazzagatto]: yes, thank you - all
[Mary]: thanks
[TRISHA]: We will let you know when the next chat is by email!!!! Thanks for coming along - and for your great suggestions - this is so helpful for me!!!!!!
[Rita T.]: Thanks for the fun
[Christine]: I appreciate these chats. Thanks so much!
[pazzagatto]: interesting info shared
[Cynthia]: Great way to break for lunch!
[sishogan]: Thanks everyone - Have a good day
[TRISHA]: Thank you all and happy knitting!!!!!!
[Robin]: To you, too!
[ldfull]: Thanks to you!!
[Cynthia]: Most excellent chat! Thanks!
[pazzagatto]: Happy Knitting everyone!
[tricia]: See you next time!
[Robin]: O, such a lovefest!
[ldfull]: I Love Vogue Chats!!!
[Robin]: It's better than a pajama party.
