“This was a fun and surprisingly simple sweater
to knit. I made this sweater for my mother’s birthday and used
100% wool yarn in purple because she is a Red Hatter.”
–Ellina Campbell |

“Knitting the Triple Cuff Hat was a joy. I only
substituted the yarn color for the top and had fun knitting such a
quick and easy project!” –Maria |
|
 |
“I enjoyed knitting this sweater. It is very
comfortable, pretty and original.”
–Veta |
|
 |
“I loved the bold Michael Kors design, but the
black-and-white colorway did not suit my husband and neither did the
high, confining turtleneck. I designed a V-neck instead, and it worked
wonderfully. He still gets comments whenever he wears it.”
–Christina Rhebergen |

“Here is Cathy Caron’s banded tunic, knit
in Rowan Tweed (cocoa). I downsized to size 4 needles to make it extra,
extra small, and after 3+ months of knitting, it’s done! I love
it as both a dress paired with tights and also as a tunic with skinny
jeans and tall boots!!! Plus, no one can believe I made it :)”
–Deana Menkes |

“I love knitting. I guess you can say that I remember people
by the sweaters they wear, and VK is the greatest inspiration!
Here is my version of the Fall/Winter 1985 cover sweater.”
-Marzena Baranowska |
|
 |
“I knit this scarf for my sister because as soon
as she saw it in VK, she wanted one for herself. I made three
rows of flowers instead of two, and it still came out pretty long.
This was a supereasy knit, and it looks amazing!”
–Maria Kesvatera |
|
 |
“Absolutely gorgeous project! I used 100% shiny hand-dyed
silk and added kid mohair to give some of the flowers a different
color and texture. To fasten the scarf, I pushed one of the flowers
through a small hole on the opposite end—like a button through
a button hole!”
-Lilly Smuul |

“My granddaughter wanted this dress
without sleeves, so that’s what I did. I’m happy with
how it came out.”
–Sue Combes |
|
 |
“I usually don’t have the patience to make
involved projects, but this was too beautiful to skip. I didn’t
knit the sleeves as long as the pattern said, and I made the neck
opening smaller by subtracting stitches from the neckline and adding
them to the sides. It’s more flattering on me this way!”
–Lilly Smuul |
|
 |
“I had a little trouble understanding the pattern,
so I changed it a bit, but it came out very nice. Many regards from
the Czech Republic!”
–Petra Kotrysova |

“The moment I saw the circular sweater on the cover of VK,
I knew I had to make it. I immediately ordered the yarn by Lorna’s
Laces, but in a different colorway. It was a bit of a challenge to
do all the twisted floating stitches, but it was worth it as the sweater
is stunning, worn long or short.”
–Sue Ann Kendall |

“I love this top—soft, comfortable and
wearable. The pattern was easy, and I adore the crochet shell edging.
I steam-blocked the pieces individually and then seamed it together.
It was my first go at set-in sleeves, and I think it worked out pretty
well.”
–Jazz Grady |
|
 |
“I knitted this diamond pullover in May of last year. The
original yarn wasn’t available in Germany, so I used a tape
yarn from my stash.”
–Iris Julimond |
|
 |
“This was an easy, straightforward pattern to
follow that I think even beginners could work on. I was surprised
at how quickly it knit up. I love how it turned out!”
–Melissa Lim |
|
 |
“I made this pretty dress in 100-percent cotton. I can wear
it as a dress and also as a tunic. Thank you very much for the inspiration.”

“I get so many compliments on this piece, and
lots of knitters recognize the design and introduce themselves to
me when I wear it. This has been my most rewarding knit to date. Thanks
for the great pattern!” –Anne Barker |

 |
“I really enjoyed knitting this piece, as the
shapes seemed to magically come together while the directions stayed
simple and consistent.” –Cristina Ford |
“This pattern was really fun to work on. The
smallest size was too big, so I removed pentagon #7 and all the pentagons
attached to it. My fashionista officemates all want one since they
saw mine and are amazed that I knit it myself.” –Aurora

“I really enjoyed knitting these
lovely knee-high socks by Joan McGowan Michael in Cascade ‘Fixation.’
For the embroidery, I used hand-dyed silk thread for the flowers and
leaves and DMC embroidery thread for the vine. To make the embroidery
easier, I made a cardboard form of the sock and thought about how
the vine would travel around my leg. I love wearing these socks!”
–Robin A. Yates |

“My mom mentioned how much she loved these socks,
so I decided to make them for her birthday. Working the pattern was
challenging, but the frequent color changes kept it interesting. By
the time her birthday rolled around, she had forgotten all about the
socks, so when I gave them to her, she was surprised and thrilled!
She LOVES them!” –Marni Sussman wemakestuff.blogspot.com |

“I knit this beret on the drive to Fallen Leaf
Lake from San Francisco. It was easy, fast and I love the poofiness
of it.”

“Cushy yarn + chic pattern + fast knit = HEAVEN!”
–Julia Madill |
“I enjoyed this project because it is so quick
to knit, and the design is so stylish. Thank you Vogue Knitting!”

“I don’t believe in ‘beginner’
sweater patterns—I make what I want, regardless of the suggested
skill level. This was the second sweater I’d ever knit at the
time, but I just dove in head-first, and it wasn’t nearly as
terrifying as I thought it would be.” –Ellen Manuszak |

“This sock pattern was challenging but very enjoyable.
I love the transition into the toe and am very pleased with the result.
I liked knitting these so much that I want to try the other sock patterns
in this issue.” –Lynn Turner |

 |
“I made this skirt in a Czech 100
percent cotton yarn (same gauge as the original yarn) and it was knitted
in one piece in the round, so that there are no side seams, no interruption
of the pattern. Best regards from the Czech Republic!” –Zuzana
Turzikova |

“I used GGH Molina to knit this top in size medium,
with no modifications to the pattern. I usually knit projects very
quickly, but because of my own knit design work, this project took
two years to complete! I’m very pleased with the results. Mari
Lynn Patrick is one of my favorite knitting designers.”
–Kat Coyle |

“I loved the look of this cardigan
and just knew I had to knit it up. It has become one of my favorites
(especially around the holidays) as I can dress it up or down. Having
a matching hat was an unexpected bonus!” –Mary Batts

“My friend requested the Perry Ellis Queen of
Hearts sweater in 1985 (she’s wearing it and that’s me
on the right). She has worn it every Valentine’s Day since then.
Not only did I knit one, but two of these sweaters. Another friend
requested a Queen of Diamonds sweater, so I changed all the hearts
to diamonds!”
