Vladimir Teriokhin, known for his impeccable taste
and nonpareil knowledge of technique, is the hidden mastermind
behind many Seventh Avenue designers’ knit collections.
In this sweater, Vlad—once again combining traditional stitches
and a fashionforward silhouette— uses both invisible and
surface design details to create structure and shape. The facings,
shown in detail below, buttress the generous shawl collar, providing
height and stability for the extra fabric. Vlad takes advantage
of simple rib’s natural tendency to pull in to cinch the
waistband atop a cabled peplum. The two simple cables are a leitmotif,
used on the cuffs and twisting around the collar.

The double-sided
stockinette-stitch under-collar facing (see top of map) provides
a firm foundation for the shawl collar. |
