K2togtbl

note
Begin scarf at center, work in k2, p2 rib and bead pat. Then pick up sts at the center of the scarf and repeat the process in the opposite direction.

Bead Knitting
The number in parentheses, following the row number, is how many beads are needed for the row. Slide that number of beads up near your knitting before beginning each row. About every four rows, it will be necessary to slide the remaining beads away from the knitting to have enough yarn to knit with. To do this, keep the skein in a basket and slide about 4 to 6″/10 to 15cm of beads at a time along the yarn, until there is about 4 feet of yarn without beads (except those for the current row) near your knitting. It 2is important to keep your tension tight when bead knitting, so that you can slide the bead into the stitch as it is made.

Scarf
Cast on 50 sts.
Row 1 K2, *p2, k2; rep from * to end.
Row 2 P2, *k2, p2; rep from * to end. Rep last 2 rows for rib until scarf measures 17½”/44.5cm, end with a WS row. Thread the beading needle with a 10″/25.5cm strand of pearl cotton and tie to the end of a new skein of yarn. Be sure to tie the thread around the yarn, so the yarn is simply folded in half, not knotted, or the beads won’t slip onto the yarn. String the large beads onto the yarn to measure seven feet or 722 beads. Attach the bead strung yarn to the knitting and work the pattern as foll:

With a new skein of yarn, pick up 50 sts along the first row of knitting and rep the 17½”/44.5cm of rib pat and the bead knitted pat, so that the cast-on row becomes the center seam of the scarf. Block the scarf so the edges lay flat and the ribbing is almost as wide as the beaded area.

Fringe
Using the pearl cotton and beading needle, attach the pearl cotton at one edge of the “V” of scarf. String 37 small beads, one large bead, and one small bead. Skipping the last bead strung, pass the needle back through the large bead and the 37 small beads. Make a small knot through the edge of the scarf and bury the pearl cotton in the yarn, coming out about ¼”/.5cm away along scarf edge. Make a small knot and rep the process all along scarf edge. Finish opposite end of scarf in same way.
